Welcome

The European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), represented by the Chair of Linguistics: Linguistic Research on Communication and Media Issues and the Center for Academic Further Education and Distance Learning (ZWF), have developed for the Southeast European Media College in Sofia a post-graduate Masters degree in Media and Intercultural Communication. This project is financed through the support of the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany (Auswärtiges Amt) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) from funds of the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe.

The program is targeted at post-graduate students from all Southeast European and European Union countries, who are currently working or wish to work in the media sector in Southeast Europe. The primary target group are journalists and other disseminators in the Media branch, who are interested in a compact academic post-secondary degree in the areas of media, conflict management, intercultural communication, and Southeast-European studies.

The Southeast European Media Center was founded on April 11, 2001, in Sofia, as a cooperative academic post-secondary education institute of the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt an der Oder, and the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, Bulgaria, within the Philosophy Faculty.
